Bishops Stortford: Full-lifecycle commercial HVAC across 7 industrial buildings — design, install, rectify and maintain

Cool Cats Air Conditioning Services delivered a complete commercial HVAC programme for Front Five Building Services across 7 industrial unit buildings at Bishops Stortford — designing and installing the systems, rectifying a previous vendor’s faulty VRF work, and returning for ongoing annual maintenance. It’s a full-lifecycle relationship: design, installation, rectification and planned upkeep, all from one F-Gas certified contractor.

The installation. Each of the 7 buildings was fitted out with a Toshiba VRF system serving its reception, office and large meeting room — combining ceiling cassettes and concealed ducted fan coil units, plus MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) for fresh-air efficiency. Cool Cats installed the externally high-mounted VRF outdoor units, all refrigerant pipe runs, condensate drainage, multi-unit electrical communications, and a centralised controller for each building.

The rectification. Cool Cats also corrected a previous contractor’s VRF installation, which had been left with an incorrect R410A refrigerant charge, pipework with multiple micro-leaks, and misconfigured power and communication wiring. The team performed a full refrigerant recovery to manufacturer specification, rectified the flare-nut and brazed joints, traced and corrected all control wiring, and verified system integrity with a 24-hour OFN (Oxygen-Free Nitrogen) pressure test at 37.3 bar before recharging and commissioning under live operating conditions.

The maintenance. Cool Cats Returned for annual planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of the system — keeping the installation efficient, compliant and reliable.

The result: integrated, F-Gas compliant climate control across all 7 buildings, a previous vendor’s errors fully corrected, and an ongoing maintenance relationship that protects the client’s investment.

Cool Cats is SafeContractor approved (WD3870) and REFCOM F-Gas registered (REF1020635), carrying £10M public liability cover for commercial projects.
